How long have you been a member at Reebok CrossFit 09?
Since Jan the 27th! Pretty much 6 months!
How did you end up walking through our doors for the first time? Was there a pivotal event that led you to us?
My friend Hannah convinced me to start, she knew about it because her sister Ellyce is a beast!
Can you remember your first CrossFit experience? What was it like and how did you feel? Excited? Nervous?
I think it was the Baseline workout, I remember thinking that I wasn't as fit as I thought I was! It wasn't that I thought I was super fit, I just did lots of running and pilates before CrossFit.
What are your favourite training shoes?
Nike frees!! However I am almost being talked into nano's, I am still a bit of a novice so I haven't paid much attention to shoes.
What are you doing when you aren't CrossFitting?
I am a full time student, studying a cultural policy analysis/journalism double major. Next Thursday I have a Skype interview with a university in California about a post grad scholarship in women's studies. Its looking at social feminism and intersectional feminism.
What has been one of the biggest things in your life that has changed since starting CrossFit?
I think being a young woman it can be difficult to trust your own body in terms of physical strength. Crossfit has helped me to trust my own strength - and it's helped a lot with my mental strength and overall mental health too.
What is your favourite CrossFit exercise and describe your perfect WOD?
Back squats have got to be my favourite and they are closely followed by Medball sit ups. I also really like TABATA rowing!
What is your athletic background?
I haven't been active properly for years but I did competitive cycling from the age of 12 to 14 - with casual netball throughout. Before CrossFit I'd only been running and doing pilates.
Is there a Reebok CrossFit 09 member who inspires you?
Krista - because she's always super positive and it doesn't come off ingenuine! She manages to hype everyone up without making anyone feel self conscious.
Greatest CrossFit accomplishment to date?
What would you like to have achieved at Reebok CrossFit 09 a year from now?
Pull ups without a band would be really awesome.
Interesting fact about yourself that most people may not know?
I taught English in Thailand when I was 18 - and as a result I speak Thai semi-fluently.
