Friday 4 April

joelene

And that's The Open for another year.

Unfortunately, we don't have a team going to the Regionals.  Not for lack of trying, the team busted their butts, lots of repeated workouts, sore bodies and tired minds.  So much contribution from the entire community, I counted 10 people that put up top 3 scores over the last 5 weeks.  And of course the support from everyone, staying behind to cheer on the team, awesome stuff.

However, this means that Joelene Neville will be competing as an individual.  Her 38th place was earned the hard way, fighting back from a serious elbow tendon tear since last year.  This will be Jo's second trip to Regionals, and she's keen to improve on last years performance.  We are all behind you Jo.

And so much more;

  • PR's. So many of them!  The heaviest snatches, clean and jerks, overhead squats, deadlifts, and thrusters ever for some of you, and performed multiple times!  We had first toes to bar, first chest to bar, first muscle ups!
  • Gym spirit - thank you so much to everyone who hung out at the gym on Saturday to cheer on the competitors, whether you were waiting for your heat, finished your heat, or weren't competing at all, you all made sure to cheer for everyone else.  Awesome.
