Caught up with Rob Maxwell a couple weeks back for a quick chat.

How long have you been training with us?

Started in Feb, so 5 months now!

So how did you hear about us?

Just walking past actually.  But I'd heard of CrossFit before, was ALWAYS hearing about it actually, from various people, and saw it on ESPN, so I finally decided to take the plunge.

Can you remember your first workout?

Kind of..... I do remember being stuffed at the end of it!!

And that's when I knew that I needed to be doing more of it, as my fitness was definitely lacking....

So the CrossFit Games on ESPN are pretty amazing, but they can also be a bit intimidating for a first timer!  You weren't put off?

Nah, not really, I mean, I had actually been to a few other gyms before RCF09 and didn't really like the buzz there, but this place had a good vibe, and so I made the leap!

Is there one major change you've noticed since you've started CrossFit

Lots of changes!

My 5km run used to be around 28mins, after 4months of CrossFit it's down to 22mins!   And I've gone from 96kg to 87kg!

Any goals for the rest of 2014?

10 strict pullups (3 right now), and 100kg back squat.

Any workout bro's you want to shout out to?

No one in particular, just want to say how great it is working with someone else full stop, a bit of healthy competition, if they put 10kg more on the bar, then you think about it too......

Anyone out there thinking about giving CrossFit a go, what would you tell them?

Don't let what you see on ESPN scare you off!  Anyone can do it.  And you're done and dusted in under an hour, where you'd normally be mucking round for 2 hours at another gym.
