Compound interest on your fitness?

"The most powerful force in the world is compound interest.  He who understands it, earns it.  He who doesn't, pays it..."

- Albert Einstein.

I sure wish I had taken this quote on board when I was younger.  I remember reading something somewhere, that said, if you saved $100 a week from the age of 20 till the age of 30 and then stopped, the compound interest on that sum by the age of 60, would be MORE than if you started saving at 30 and carried on for the entire 30 year stretch to 60.

Such is the power of starting early, and more importantly the reward for consistency.

I didn't start doing CrossFit until I was 32, and now that I'm approaching 40, it's easy to wish that I had started at 22, but the fact is, that I'm just grateful to be fitter now than I was then.  And I'm still utilising the power of interest by being consistent, turning up to the gym, eating well, getting it done daily.  Sure I withdraw a little cash now and again (an unplanned day off, the odd treat meal etc) but the fitter I get, the easier it is to maintain fitness, and to get fitter still.  The momentum you gain from the progress you make is just like compound interest on your bank account.  Only, your health is arguably a more important bank account.....

I plan on being fitter at 50, than I was at 40.

It doesn't matter when you start, you can still earn interest on your life.  All it takes is that consistency.

If you're having trouble getting a decent run of success under your belt, maybe our Spring Challenge can help you create some lasting habits.  As a member of our gym, you'll have full access to the knowledge of our coaches, and the support of the community.

If you're not a member, but you're thinking about it, let's talk about how we can help.   If you're not in Auckland, or a little uncertain about joining a gym, consider joining our online Spring Challenge group.  You get nutrition and exercise resources for at home or your gym, the same access to our coaches, and you can create your own support community with an online private group.

More details coming this week.   But email info@crossfitnz.co.nz to pre-register your interest.
