Testing max reps strict pullups today!

In the old days,  the definition of a strict pullup was to pull your body from a fully extended arms below the bar, high enough to press your chest against the bar.  It's a bit more relaxed now, chin over the bar is enough to count, but it's still frowned upon if you don't get those elbows straight....

And now, thanks to the popularity of CrossFit, kipping pullups are a well utilised conditioning exercise.  This often means that people find it hard to go back to a truly strict rep during strength training, or muscular stamina testing.

There are a lot of haters on kipping pullups. Usually it's because of a misunderstanding of their goal.

I'm still a fan of the best possible range of motion you are capable of - the bigger the ROM, the bigger the training effect, and the greater the results.

But also because if you're capable of better, you should consider doing it.....

Because if you can only manage the bare minimum, you might find things tough under testing or competition standards.

And also because it's just the right thing to do......
